GRAND ISLE -- For any normal 15-year-old, competing in a world-famous fishing rodeo might be too much to handle, but not for Josh Rodriguez of Galveston, Texas.
Rodriguez snagged a 147-pound, 6-ounce tarpon to claim first-place honors on the final day of the 84th annual Grand Isle International Tarpon Rodeo on Sunday. Rodriguez, who was competing as a member of the Silver King Adventures fishing team, along with his dad, his little brother and his uncle, said he used an 80-pound test to haul in the tarpon, which vaulted vertically out of the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico after being hooked.
